Why we are building Zenancy

We started work on this after a mid-sized property group showed us a quote for a physical climate risk assessment. Six figures, four months, and a deliverable they would not be able to reproduce or query. They needed it because AASB S2 required it, and they had no realistic alternative.

Nearly every dataset that assessment relies on is public. G-NAF is open. Cadastral parcels are open in most jurisdictions. Geoscience Australia publishes bushfire boundaries. SILO provides decades of gridded climate observations. Digital Earth Australia measures shoreline change from satellite imagery back to 1988. NSW publishes flood studies. The data is spread across about thirty portals in about fifteen formats, and assembling it is slow manual work.

The gap between free data and a six-figure answer is mostly assembly labour. That is work an agent with a sandbox and a data lake can do.

What we are building

An agent over a curated lake of Australian open land, hazard and climate data that answers portfolio-level questions about physical climate risk. The output is a table and a methodology appendix naming every dataset, vintage and assumption behind it. It is written to be handed to an auditor.

We are not building a score. A score is easy to sell and hard to defend. A number in an annual report that cannot be traced to a public dataset and a documented method is a liability.
